ANOTHER GOOD NEWS FOR CRICKET LOVERS; there will be no drawn matches in the world cup
2023. If score of both teams is same after 50 overs then the result will be
decided by a super over. Fun will start if the super over is also tied. In this
scenario another super over will be played and super overs will keep on going
until one of the team wins in that super over. This new rule of the ICC has
been in effect since quite time and it will ensure that full two points are given
to the winning team. The points will be divided only in case the match has been
washed out. In this case both teams will get one point each.
Earlier when the scores are leveled at the end of the match, a super over would be played and if the super over is also drawn then the result is decided on the basis of number of boundaries by the team. As happened in the final of World Cup 2019 between England and New Zealand.
Another
important point to be remembered for the World Cup 2023 is that if different teams have
same points then their final position will be decided on the basis of net run
rate (NRR).
